Hey everybody, I am just looking to find a really simple white web site template. The Rhodes Brothers use them quite a bit in their sales letters. Bum Marketing Method uses it. It is just white, has a shadow around it.....

They are so simple and clean and I really like the look. I have seen them used by many different people, I just cant find a template version to use.

If you know of one that is much appreciated and if you know of a wordpress version that is even better. I might sit and finally figure out how to make a wordpress template to make one if there is not one.

Hey just save any of those pages and you will find the images in the 'images' folder. Use them in a blank HTML file and you will get your white-shadowed template. It won't be that easy on WP bcoz you will have the navigation there. But you can get something similar with some brain work.

Thanks Stephen. I never did find one that way I wanted so I ended up just making my own Wordpress theme. That was a fair bit of work, but now I have a template for all future use.

I think making your own may be the best way to go. In addition to having something that's your own design, you end up learning a lot about how WP works. Which makes it easier to hack it when you need to!

It was scary how long it took me though. I spent a good 10 hours working on it. But at the end, it was really satisfying to have created something from scratch. Being somewhat capable with Wordpress design is also an invaluable skill in my opinion.

It is kind of scary how long it takes to build from scratch. I've spent at least that long a few times making a from-scratch custom template for wordpress. When making not just a template, but a full site design, it can take much longer than that.

It's sometimes faster to take one that's "almost there" and hack it up. Sometimes not, though. Things like the Kubrick template tend to be so over-programmed already that just changing the header is a major pain in the neck.

I completely agree that some competence in WP design (and basic html and css) is invaluable. Even if all you want to do is add something that's not a widget to the sidebar, it makes a big difference.

Then again, I may well be offering services involving template customizing and tweaks in the future, so maybe I should quit encouraging people to learn it themselves!
