Wordpress "more" tag not showing on published page

Hi...
I hope someone can help me. I have a wordpress site where I am using static pages for content, not posts. On the pages, I'm putting in the "more" text break link and it is working fine on the admin side, but not showing on the published side... other than a blank extra line.

If I look at the html view, I see the <!--more=> where I want the breaks to be.
Anyone know how I can make them appear?
BTW, I tried a test post and used the more break there, and it didn't work on that either.

I do have another blog where the "more" is working just fine.

I also have cleared my cache, restarted my browser, and my computer and deactivated all my plugins. Didn't seem to help. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!
Kindly,
Deb

More tags some time doesnt work with the theme.
You can check in two ways
    1) Deactivate the existing theme and make the default wordpress theme and check.
    2) If you can see more in the default theme then there is problem with theme or
    3) Open the theme in editor and open index.php
    4) Copy the particular div in where we need more tag
    5) Search in the theme.
    6) If u want help change your wordpress admin into developer mode i will check it for u.After my completion you can change your password of admin.

I doing just as help. I will not ask any money.

Finally found it... The solution is that the More tag does not show on the pages, only posts. I was doing an experiment for my site setup. I'll be changing it to posts, now.
Tirupati, thanks so much for your offer of help.

tirupati would do a service to the forum if he learns WP before giving nonsense advice...

As you found out the "more" tag will not work on Pages for the simple reason that there is no "multi-Page view" in WordPress.

Longer explanation: for posts you have multipost view, i.e. the main index, the archives, search results - where you can have many posts listed on the same page. In such views the "more" tag, if used, comes in effect: shows up with a link to the "single post view".

Now, Pages by default are always shown in "single Page view"; there is no way in WP to show multiple Pages on the same webpage (as with posts) - which means there is no need for the "more" tag to work on Pages.

If you know how to modify the code in the Loop of the Page template... you can force the more tag to work. I have never seen a real need for that.

      Hello, Istvan,
Thanks so much for your reply. I try to find answers myself before posting threads, but sometimes the answer comes after posting. Glad to be making progress.
