Website Categorisation

Hi guys,

Need some advice. I am creating a new website and have put the main services into four catergories, should this be reflexed in the URLs for the pages. Here an example of what I mean

www.domainname.com/catergory/service or

www.domainname.com/service

Does this have an bearing on SEO?

Any help would be appreciated.

It depends on if the categories have any SEO significance. Search engines are looking for keywords in the url.

If www.domainname.com/service includes the keywords you want to rank the page for, you don't need to include the category.

However, if the categories include keywords, you should use them in the url.

www.domainname.com/keyword/longtail
