Finding Good Website Designers

Why is it so hard to find mid range website designers? What is out there are a few high end designers and a lot of designers who do sub-standard jobs. There is almost nothing in between.

I've published 2 websites so far which I'm fairly happy with but each of them took about six months to design. This is because my designer uses contractors somewhere in South East Asia who can hardly be described as website designers. It takes at least 5 revisions for them to design a single page; they don't seem to know the difference between navigation menu and site map. I kid you not!

I can't pay $20,000 or more for a website. Sure, I get quality with such designers. But not many people can afford such prices. I don't want cut-and-nail designers either. What I'm looking for are designers who can design decent, quality websites for under $5000. Based on my experience, this group of designers are hard to find. The question is why? Is the niche not rewarding financially?

You need to get in touch with designers directly. If you go through third-party middlemen, you can't blame the designer. Who knows if the said "designer" even exists or your contractor is asking some kids to fix a site???

I get mails from several people who are "helping their friends and family" design sites and blogs.

I don't know whether you've looked into Elance, but this would be a good start since you can let people make proposals to you and can trust the rating system.

Nevertheless, if you send me your contact information via PM, I can certainly help you and get started right away.

Depends on what type of site your looking for ?

For $ 5000, this is a lot of money for anyone to turn their nose up at, Have to tryed or thought of looking at web template sites, you can buy full html sites with many pages fairly cheap, Or buy them outright as your site that no one else can download and use after you buy, again a lot cheaper than $5000 , just add your own content, have a look at the full sites and the layout and replace pictures and any text in the content layout with your own.

for flash sites or PHP sites if your not tec mineded out source in this forum, do a search for web designers, you will get a better deal in here.
