Need Website Help with a Forum

I have been doing affiliate marketing now for almost 2 years, my slow boat to riches. I have an opportunity to take it to the next level sort of tossed in my lap.

I have been a moderator on a very popular forum in my niche. It is being shut down. I have a couple hundred followers now encouraging me to now open my own site with a forum. I am clueless and very technically challenged.

I heard wordpress was the way to go. I don't even know what I am asking. I checked web.com and it's very simple to put up a site there, but is that what I need.

I am to the point to just want to pay someone to do it for me. Is there anyone out there that can shed some light. If I go with webs, they offer no telephone support and it's all via chat. I wouldn't even know what package would work for me.

This is my first post, so don't beat me up please. I am still very very green.

    Hey Robin,

If you are starting a business I would set this up on your own domain..it is not very expensive...

A domain costs about $9bucks a year and I have a great hosting account that is only $5.95 a month...

Then you just install the forum from your hosting account...

If you want help I can lead you in the right direction just send me a pm

Hostgator has one-click installation of phpBB, BBpress, MyBB, punBB and SMF and amazing customer service.

They have always answered questions when I've had them. *smiles*

I'd recommend a Simple Machines Forum. They are simple (yes!) can be installed in minutes, (if you have a control panel with a script installer, like DirectAdmin, or cPanel) although setting up admin and the details, takes longer.

I've been a forum rat ever since I got online, and really enjoy having my own forums. I'm just setting one up for a non profit organization and just took a break from that to wander over here.

    Will pm also.

    best wishes

A lot would depend on what you really want to do, if you just want to run a forum or link a website to a forum, I would recommend MyBB,

SMF is ok, but there are some issues, that would cause you some grief in the long run.

One of the things you may consider is if you need product management, or if your just funneling, traffic into a forum, there are several things to consider, all in all just about anything is possible,)
