Need Help Choosing Server Type
Hello Everyone,
First of all let me say that I am new to WF or any forums for that matter. I am also very excited to be surrounded by such knowledgeable people! I currently own a steel erecting company in Cincinnati and in April of 2010 I became the owner of a website. Going from the steel business to trying to get a website off the ground and get it monetized has been an adventure and been the cause of very little sleep at night! I love the fact that this is something completely different from what I have ever done in business and I am constantly learning. With that being said if there is anyone out there who is willing to coach/guide a young entrepreneur in the ways of operating a successful internet business any and all help would be greatly appreciated! I guarantee that you will not find someone more motivated and willing to learn than myself!
On to my question.....My website has a database of listings i.e... names,addresses,city,state,zip, and phone numbers. Our site currently has around 96,000 entries and growing. We have a search on our site that filters through searchable keywords to find entries that match the search criteria and then using googlemaps produces results based on keyword relation as well as distance from the zip code entered. As I said I am new to all of this so i would guess that there is quite a bit of activity going on with each search preformed. This has slowed the site WAY down and getting slower as we continue to add entries. My designer is currently hosting this site on his shared server. What are the most effective/least expensive server options suitable for my site? What companies would be recommended?This site could have over a million searchable listing within the year.
