Hi Everyone,

I am unsure as to the most suitable hosting to use for my sites.. I am developing 10+ adsense based sites, then once these are done will create many other affiliate sites.

Should I use a reseller hosting account and pay $25 monthly? or should I just use a shared account and pay $10 monthly ?(business plan hostgator)

I guess I am wanting the best hosting for most bandwidth and memory for the best price.. shared or reseller acount?

Thanks in advance..

I would say don't buy more than you need but having a reseller account is great. It would be very worthwhile if you're ever gong to sell or flip the sites you create or if you want to give clients their own cpanel.

I create quite a few new cpanel accounts for clients and don't think you'd be able to do that with the business plan, if you plan on doing this get the reseller otherwise you should get buy on a business account if you on need a channel for yourself.

    Hope that helps, Harry

Thanks alot Haymanpl, Christian Little, Shirlyn, Progez, Mark Brian, Harry Spencer and anyone else who contributed to my question..

I was looking at using site5 as they have a pro account for $13 per month where as the same as reseller account and has dedicated ip address as well as c panel for each domain I use.. doesnt have resell option though.. however I appreciate your advice everyone, I think I will go with hostgator as I used them before and the support is A1 and I am familiar with them...

I think that the $25 per hosting account would suffice and any that got heaps of traffic I would look at a VPS hosting account for these sites later on..as for now $25 a month for reseller hosting account would be more than enough.. especially as it has the support 24.7 via phone as I need..if site5 had this then I would go with them but no and phone support anytime of the day or night is worth the few extra dollars in fees a month to me..

As far as when it comes to selling or flipping sites.. is it standard practice to have a reseller hosting account to keep the site hosted on the same existing account after it is bought by someone..?

      Cheers all

I can't say from personal experience as I don't flip sites, but if you are planning to sell sites a lot, then a reseller plan works way better because it's so much easier to move via cPanel backup file. With a shared hosting plan, that's not really an option because the cPanel backup will backup all of your sites into a single file.

Whereas with a reseller account, you can backup each individual cPanel account separately and just send it off to the buyer without having to worry about them getting your other sites.

Reseller is better for the following reasons:

    - Separate cpanel accounts are easier to manage and track resources used
    - When an add-on domain consumes more than usual resources in a level that is harmful to the server, the admins usually disables the entire cpanel account therefore all your add-on domains are also disabled.
    - It's easier to sell your site in the future if it's hosted on its own cpanel account vs add-on domains

    I recommend a Reseller.
It's better for a lot of things.

    Best regards.

For what you are doing, a shared hosting plan would work just fine. You don't even need a business plan, just the standard shared hosting plan would work.

Reseller plans give you more control yes, but for putting up 10 sites it's not really a big deal.

I would start with shared and then upgrade later if you need more bandwith
$25 a month will get your VPS hosting which you don't need now. Hostgator offer plans for $65 a year which gives you unlimited bandwith an storage. You can also use coupons to save 25% which i have included in my review

Here's my review of the best yearly wordpress hosts and how to choose the best host

You would only need reseller if you want to resell hosting otherwise a shared plan would be suitable for your current needs
