Please Recommend Webdesign Editor "I" Can Use!

Hello John, Thanks for your reply. I quickly checked it out and it
looks cool. A few years ago I was looking for something like that.
Right now I'm not sure about it. There must be limitations there
that will come up and I don't have much confidence it. I'm thinking
at only $70-$80, if I only spent a little more, I'll get more sort of
thinking. And I never heard of it before... or maybe did and was
curious enough. I can see it working for several others though and
I think it fills my definition, but I should explain further. Thank you!

Ok, here's more info to share to help you come up with a recommen-
dation...

I was thinking of getting something I recognize or heard of before.
Things like Dreamweaver CS5, CoffeeCup, MS Expression Studio 4, Intuit
and WebEasy 8.

I know NOTHING of those programs. I have not tried them, down-
loaded their trial version or even checked them out. From what I've
quickly read, DW is a bit spendy compared to others, then I looked
and saw it's only from $119 to $349... with several in the low $100
range, so that's not a problem.

I shouldn't have said "simple" in what I design or would like to get. If
there's some good effort involved in learning a new program, I'm up
for it.

Here is a list of some of the things I will/may have in a website:

• eMail management forms and code (aWeber?)(Optin Boxes)
• Camtasia or Camtasia-like videos
• Powerpoint through Camtasia, etc
• mp3, mp4, Realplayer vid's, (We'll just say videos)
• Possible integration of shopping carts and/or PayPal
• Customer support ticket forms
• Scripts (most likely having php involved)
• Split testing scripts

If you have any recommendations, I would be most happy! Right
now it's frustrating because there are many to choose from. When
I do get new software, it will have to be able to handle what I've
listed above.

All of the above sites were done on the engine, and all sites are WEB 2.0. This is what you want.

To be more precise, it'll clarify: the term Web 2.0 has been co-opted for nearsighted purposes that fail to realize the potential of the original concept's vision. In my experience, I've seen a lot of marketing applications that are merely incremental improvement over existing campaign tactics. That's why it's time to transform over to web 2.0. In english - It allows us to upgrade technology in real time.

Web 2.0 offers RIA which is Rich Internet Applications. What this does is allow us to bring the experience from the desktop to the browser.
Drag and drop, etc. It also allows us to do SOA - Service Orientated Architectures. such as Web Services and Mash ups.

What we do is we expose functionalities to other functionalities to create more powerful social web applets for your site.

What we do is we make users Participants of your website, as opposed to Visitors,
The end user is an Intrical part of the data of said application providing feedback and allowing the application leverage to the users using it.

Web 2.0 also allows us to easily apply features, deploy features and update new things as they are developed.

With regards to posting offers, that is an excellent system. What you can do is integrate Facebook into the offers themselves thus opening the doors of facebook to you. Users can login to facebook directly on you're website and post comments that they can then share to their friends. This is just one example of many. Once we start business, we'll see what you're after and find out the best methodologies to get from where we are to where you want to be.

You can then have the website interact with facebook, post products / services / offers, etc, and have interested fans come in and complete them. You simply offer a small incentive to you're users to "like" you're fan page. You can also setup affiliate links and offer an "invite a friend" rewards program if you choose.

The options and functionalities with Web2.0 in regard to your offers are almost limitless.


Anyways - if you wanted to checkout my engine - you said you liked Wysiwig editors - well, once you see this, you won't go back to anything else. Wordpress can't hold a candle to my engine.

As you've already used FrontPage, have you considered moving to Microsoft Expression Web ?

I was a FrontPage user and found the move across to EW simple enough and everything felt and looked familiar.

EW also has a WYSIWYG editor too, just like in FP.

I know people say Dreamweaver is the way to go but if you are anything like me and you've got used to FP, you'll find EW quite easy to get into.

I like EW that much, I'm now on EW4.

And for websites I won't to throw together in a hurry, I also use Serif WebPlus which is much cheaper.

I use WebEasy 8 Professional. It is, as it implies, easy. It is also cheap. I bought the store version at BestBuy for something like $38.00. It came with a book which has most of what you need to know. They have tech support, although they tend to want to only answer questions regarding the functionality of the software. There is another website called "softcity" where you can post questions about it. There is also a downloadable version. Very easy learning curve. Down-side is that you must build your websites on your computer, and clients can't log on with user name and password to make changes themselves (unless you give them direct access to your computer--not wise). I am now looking for something like it that is cloud-based , so that my clients can log on and make changes themselves. Good luck!

Hello People!

I almost forgot about this post and I see others have jumped in and helped me with additional advice!

I did learn, the hard way, about some wysiwyg editors messing with existing code.

I do have Expression Web 4 on trial basis and I will be getting that. I also have Komposer and just recently got Notepad2 for the CSS part of it.

And I did dump FrontPage! I may need it for something simple, but from now on, I'm forcing myself to learn MS Express. 4. I know this question must have been asked many time prior, but I didn't have much luck using the search to find them and getting fresh ideas and opinions was something I was looking for anyway.

Thank you all for helping me with the advice, etc. It's a good feeling to know there's a place to go when good ideas are needed!
