I am a noob, have watched a few hours of beginner videos on youtube.

What is the best place to find instructional videos to learn how to use it. I can do the basic stuff, but wanting to learn as much as I can about it.

    Wrong.. :p

You know the basics, so get in there and make a website.

Who care's about the other stuff...

There won't be any practical benefit in learning as much as you can about it if you haven't even built a website in it yet.

Get a war room membership. There are some very good posts and free stuff available there. Also search the WSO section. There are plenty of Wordpress WSO's.

  • You probably need all you need to know already, but the Wordpress Codex (official) is always available. Just Google it.

To be honest I haven't found that any one particular site is a standout for every single topic. Your best bet is just to Google each individual thing you want to learn about because in my experience there's often one single article out there that explains each thing the best.

If you are really interested about mastering WP, then why don't you grab an ebook for the same. i have recently noticed some bestsellers at ebay with quite a handful of customer reviews attached. read the reviews and go for the book, i am sure you will find a lot of insights about the same.

If you don't want to spend money on ebooks, then simply google for WP tutorials & you will find a good bunch of results to choose from. also, don't forget the phrase "Practice makes a man perfect", try to put your WP basics into reality & you can start by creating a free WP blog

Why not just buy a theme that's already pre-built? Or pay someone $100 to make your modifications.

i agree just jump in and do it. Wordpress is like working on a car. Until you do it yourself and see what your actions have resulted in, you can't truly learn it.

to use the theme editor takes some html and css knowledge, but other than that wordpress is plug n play

Put a simple site together as your test project. Get stuck into the backend and play around. Look up a few things on youtube and google and try them out. Do not fall into the trap that you think you have to know everything first.
There will be some helpful information in the war room as well, but your best bet is to have a tinker around with it. You will learn far more that way.

You don't need to pay for any tutorials...

EVerything you need to know about WP is there in their online manual, the Codex.

You will not be able to learn everything at once before you start using it.
My advice: start using WP (on your own domain, of course or on a local install) and learn the next bit as you go.

IMHO - The very best way to learn about websites and how to design and use websites especially is simply by Google searching what you want to know, along with "tutorial".

I learn't how to code Wordpress's this way.

The best way to learn in this feild of knowledge is also to start practicing straight away. Even with simple things like using HTML or CSS to make a certain word appear in bold font-style; practice it for yourself and you will pick things up quickly.

Also - get hold of a theme and mess about with it, the source code for your theme can be downloaded from Wordpress.

If theres any more specific needs you need to focus on, then give me a PM here at the forum and I will be more than willing to help you out.

    Peace and Love as always,
