Why did Google Analytics mess up this page?

The site is accuracyediting.com and all I did was add Google Analytics immediately before the </head> tag. Now, the menu bar has these weird characters in the tabs where the spaces were. It now has the "i" with 2 dots, an upside down ? and 1/2.

PLEASE HELP!:confused:

    Hmm, just a quick tip. Try to change in your first line of the website HEAD
    This:
    Code:
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    to this:

    Code:
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    Don't sure if helps.

    Probably that the problem is caused since your navigation menu uses JavaScript to so there can be some same function or something. If you can use a static navigation bar or simply try to remove this code from your source:

    Code:
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
            function tweNavbarPreload(imgSrc, imgObj) {
                if (document.images) {
                    eval(imgObj+' = new Image()');
                    eval(imgObj+'.src = "'+imgSrc+'"');
                }
            }
            function tweNavbarChangeImage(imgName, imgObj) {
                if (document.images) {
                    document[imgName].src = eval(imgObj + ".src");
                }
            }

    </script>
    That should do the job and looks that only preloads the images so probably you don't need it for those small images. DON'T FORGET TO MAKE A BACKUP!

    I feel, when you added the google analytics (GA) code , something happened when you saved it. may be different format.

    I saw your other pages which don't have GA code and using the same <head> code are doing good.

    I am sure it has nothing to do with GA. please trying removing GA code and check again. if still the problem exists after removing GA, then may be you can edit the menu part of code and save the file again.

    Also , you should always put the GA code just before the </body>
    so that it runs when the full page has been loaded. <head> not the place recommended for GA.

      GA code placement in HEAD is recommended by Google, also the code can run in the BODY tag to. Also if he needs the GA code and needs to keep it than can try to remove the image preload since hasn't any use for those small images.

    Well, I tried to change the char set code and that didn't work. I did try removing it as soon as I noticed the problem, but it stayed the same. I did, now that I recall, make a Google sitemap for the site last night, too. Would that have affected anything? Their hosting is fatcow and she used SiteDelux to create the site, and that specific program doesn't allow you to edit the source code, so I edited it from the File Manager.

    Ugh!

      Another Idea:

      Probably that you have access to the menu link texts to. Try to change those nasty character or SPACE if that is shown in your editor and chande it to &nbsp; this outputs the same as hitting space.

      So for example:
      OurServices OR Our Services WILL BE Our&nbsp;Services Try it, maybe helps.

      Regards,
      daSSad

        I dont think this has anything to do with GA, it seems that the code is not correct and I did notice that your Char set is not correct either. You may wish to rebuild your site using wordpress. I can do that for you for maybe 25 dollars with that design. That way you would be assured great SEO and GA's. Let me know if you would like me to do this for you. You can see my work at my site - its seriouswebsitedesign dot com Thanks.

    Thanks jamesg3. I appreciate the offer, but I was just doing this as a favor for this person. She knows the site is bad, but we haven't gotten to the point to talking about redoing it. She wanted to see how much traffic it currently gets first. I'm SO biased on Wordpress that every other site design seems SO archaic and inferior.

    Thanks James. I actually LOVE WP. I just wasn't clear in my wording on my last post. This is a non-paying client, so we're not moving forward until we get paid something.

    Hi Susan,
    I saw one of your recent posts about the SFR method and would like to request for some advice. Unfortunately, I don't have enough posts to pm you and was wondering if you can pm me with an email address I can contact you on.
    Thanks,
    Sola

    Yes, I already bought SFR and noticed that you are having some success with it. Wanted some advice about the whole process (which seems to be the approach you have taken).
