Dreamweaver and html help

Hello Warriors,

I am hoping someone can help me. I am using Dreamweaver 11 and an html sales page template. I am trying to add a left and right margin to a table, but have been unsuccessful other than editing the padding, which I do not want to do since it adds a margin at the top.

Can anyone help me figure out how to add the left and right margins without a top margin?

  • Add this to whatever element you want to add a margin to:

    style="margin-left:10px;"

    or

    style="margin-right:10px;"

    That should do the trick.

    Btw, try your best to avoid using tables unless you specifically need to display tabular data/information.

    I assume that goes somewhere after the table settings? I would not use the table except it was in the template page and am not 100% sure how to take it out.

    There is already a table in the html, but I am basically trying to get a margin on the left and right only, and I am puzzled how to do this.

  • Basically, I am looking for a 1 inch or 100px margin on the left and right only so I do not have that 1 inch gap at the top after my header.

    Happy Easter! and sorry for the delay, there are 2 way you can do this.


    The first thing I would tell you is this sale page is using tables. If I look at your layout this could so easily be achieved without making everything a mess and a lot harder on yourself.

    To answer your question, you want to give the "table" a left and right margin?

    Simply do this:

    If you do this, your page will become 100% + 200px wide because the sale page was given the table a 100% width, this is useless since the table is a block level element and will take up the maximum width automatically. So remove the width="100%", then add the margin and you should be fine.

    Also its probably because the sale page was define .box twice; my guess would be you end up with a bottom and right margin of 100px on both sides right now. Use different names for different elements as per convention - and keep in mind that two definitions of a same sort null each other out, like the following:

    Would only place #foo in the center of the page, as the last margin nulls the effect of the preceding two statements. (The same happens when you define an element with the same name twice, it just looks different)

    I tried using the 1st code and when I did that, it adjusted the header graphic and made a left margin only. I am not sure where to put the 2nd code and how to use it. I'm afraid I am learning html as I go, so I am definitely struggling. If it helps, I am using the RAP script to do this.

    Hello Warriors, I am hoping someone can help me. I am using Dreamweaver 11 and an html sales page template. I am trying to add a left and right margin to a table, but have been unsuccessful other than editing the padding, which I do not want to do since it adds a margin at the top.
