Hey Warriors I need some help

So I have made several websites in Wordpress and I am very familiar with that format of website. Through that I have learned some CSS customization and such. But I have a client who has an old website that he wants to put online again which was not originally a Wordpress website, so I am in the dark. I have all of the original files which were provided to me in zip file. But I am not sure where to start. I am not even sure if the website was hosted though a CMS of just directly managed and coded.

I have uploaded the zip file to my website and it can be downloaded from the following link if you could take a look: jleavittdesigns.com/helpmeout
If anyone could provide me with any suggestions of how to get these files online that would be great.

Can I just place these files on my FTP server under a domain and hope the site shows up as it did before. Any suggestions to what file(s) I need to edit to re-map the wepage address as it will be under a different domain?
Thank you for your time and help!

Your going to have to integrate the old template into WordPress (I.e take the HTML from the old website and integrate it into the templating system that WordPress uses).

For example, you'd put the content of header.php (from the old website) into the header.php file in the WordPress theme, making changes to accommodate for WordPress tags such as navigation areas, site title etc.

Looking through the backup, the code seems to be all over the place (there is a <head> tag in the footer of the old website), so it may take some time to transplant the old code into a new WordPress theme.

Maybe you should learn some basic html/php and other stuff BEYOND WordPress... if you really want to call yourself a web site designer - as you claim on your website!
Setting up a WP site is NOT webdesign. If you are "in dark" with anything that is not a WP installation - you are in trouble.

You are NOT able to do basic site maintenance (again, as you claim on your site) because you cannot handle a simple task of unzipping and checking the files of an existing website.

Sorry, I know you don't like to hear this... but that's the truth. You should give back this job and tell you are not qualified to deal with it.

Did you really hope somebody can teach you in a forum post how to deal with a task that is above your head?

<rant> why I am not surprized seeing the huge number of threads where innocent customers try to find remedy after they got screwed up by ignorant, self-appointed "designers"?</rant>

Thank you Tomos, the code does seem to be a bit all over the place but I have started what you suggested and that should do the trick. I appreciate the guidance.

Istvan, I merely wanted a suggestion just as Tomos gave me. I understand some of what you said, and that is your opinion. All of my clients understand exactly my skill set: I use WP templates, I customize them using the HTML and CSS coding I know, and I provide professional looking websites. This is not from the ground up design work and I completely understand that. And, I do know how to unzip a file Istvan. This job is for a customer I have made 3 websites for already, this is just a side project that my client asked me if I could look into that was all that I am doing. I find it peculiar that you would slam me and my job like that based off of my question. If I offended you by asking that type of general question I am sorry. If I offended you by calling myself a designer I am sorry. But in my opinion I design websites, yes I do it in WordPress, yes that limits what I can do. But I have several clients who need my level of work and are more than happy to pay me for it.

THANK YOU TOMOS for helping out, that is what this forum is supposed to be all about.

Hey Istvan, maybe you should learn to keep to yourself if you can't help! What did jleavitt13 do to get such a response??? This is supposed to be a place where members offer help, not crap all over each other.

Tomos took some time to download the code and offered some basic and helpful advice.

But you spent zero time helping and just couldn't keep your mad fingers from spewing all over jleavitt13. Wow you are so impressed with yourself.

You are right, jleavitt13 was "ignorant" of some things. So what? Ignorance means one doesn't know something, NOT that they are stupid. There is no cure for stupidity. But when a user is intelligent enough to realize their ignorance about an issue, and they post it here, hopefully a HELPFUL soul (like Tomos) can indeed help to cure their ignorance.

THIS IS A PLACE FOR CURING IGNORANCE, NOT FOR BELITTLING IT.

Your "addition" to this forum is destructive. If you can't contribute something positive please stay off the forum. I could care less how long you've been here or how much you've posted, you should be ashamed of this one.

By the way, why does such a superior one as you post a misspelling? This forum even underscores (in red) any misspelling. Were you ignorant of that feature, or just too stupid to notice?
