Wordpress Site Advice

I just got my site set up, only one article up right now, rest are on my other pc.

Currently I'm using a rather plain theme. 2010 Weaver. Personally I think the feminine colors work well for the niche and I like a more casual look to the theme than a lot of the crisp themes I've seen... but I'm just really not a fan of what I have. Suggestions would be great if anyone can think of a useful one. (The banner color was because when my friend made it it was still the default color scheme.)

I feel like I'm getting a wall-o-text feel so I wanted to have my articles display as excerpts, maybe with a picture by them for ones where I have pictures. How would I go about that? I tried just putting it to view as an excerpt and it got rid of the paragraph and bolded formatting which made it look really bad.

    • I'm going for an article directory I suppose. Mostly going to be articles about being a work at home mom and overcoming challenges. I'll also be doing reviews of self-help books, parenting books, some educational toys and programs, that type of thing.

  • Unfortunately, 'the_exerpt()' (the string that calls your excerpt) strips the html from the content. As far as I know, you'd have to edit that string to get what you want.

You'd think the default would be to leave in your html (formatting). But I'm not a programmer, so what do I know?!
  • Use Contact Form 7 in your right side widget column. It will look nocer than your existing one.
  • Hey whats the plugin fo rthe sharing is caring?
