Landing page indexing and site restructuring
I have two issues here, the first issue is regarding my landing pages, which are several versions of basically the same page. When creating several (dozens of) versions of landing pages for different adgroups, it appears to me that I run the risk of eventually being penalized for duplicate content. Does using the <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" /> tag protect me from this? For what I understand this should keep the bots from indexing my pages, but that doesn't mean that the bot won't find duplicate content in the same directory where I have the same landing page in several versions where the only thing different is the keywords I use throughtout the copy. I'd be very interested in hearing how you guys go about this.
The other issue I have is with restructuring my site's folder structure, which is not in bad shape but it could be better. How dangerous is this? I do have a sitemap but it doesn't look like google is aware of it. Also in Google's webmaster tools, I see that it has already indexed most of my site and I'm not sure what this will do if I change things around, for one I know this will create a lot of 404 errors and I'm sure that's not a good thing. So I'd really be intersted in knowing how you guys would handle that.
Thanks a lot.
Charlie.
