HTML Color variation issue, please advise.

The issue that I am having has to do with using Photoshop to match colors. There have been times when I will take a screenshot of a website I am building and then try to match the color to a banner for that site using photoshop. In photoshop I will use the color picker tool to find out the color. Using this method, I can see a slight variation in the color when I match the banner up to the background color of the webpage. Why does this happen? Any ideas on how to fix the issue?

    Have a look at your color mode setting under "image" tab... I've seen differences when the mode isn't set to RGB.
