Wordpress permalink question

I'm trying to set up permalinks to better facilitate RSS feeds. I want to create a new feed for each category so I need proper permalinks for each category.

Currently if I click on a category the URL shows something like...

"http://realhomebusiness.us/career%20at%20home/career-at-home/"

Career at home is the category. So it looks like it's pulling the "ugly" version of the category and then amending the "Slug" to it.

Is there a way to customize the permalink for the category i.e.
Start a Real Career At Home

  • While we're on the subject of permalinks, here's another question; virtually every website I can find dealing with custom permalinks says to use this structure...

    /%category%/%postname%/

    Every site except Wordpress's website. They say that they "Strongly" suggest that you don't use this structure for performance reasons.

    So what's up with this ???
