if you are on windows get filezilla and then using the initial email hostgator sent you to fill out the required info to get started on filezilla. just make sure you put your html files in the public_html folder for it to work

To upload a file through File Manager, please do the following:
    1. Login to cPanel and click File Manager
    2. Choose to open Web Root and Show hidden files
    3. At the top, click Upload.
    4. Click the Browse button.
    5. Double click the file you want to upload to your site.
    6. Wait for the blue bar to complete, then go back to File Manager.
You have successfully uploaded a file to your site through file manager.

There's a checkbox in that process you can check to overwrite if the file already exists. Maybe a file with the same name already exists in the folder?

If that doesn't work - contact Hostgator Support - they are normally very quick - and good.

The images are there on your site OK - but the page is looking for them in a folder called "images".

Either create a folder called images (better option) and re-upload all the images in there or

Re-edit your index.html page so that you take out all references to images/xxx.jpg

You need to download Filezilla and upload your files using FTP.

After you log into FTP, go to "public_html" folder. If you see "images" folder, upload all your images to that folder.

If you don't see one, you will need to create "images" folder first.

      Yes - that's it now.

Just noticed you need to change the "title" in your html file - at the moment it is "index"

Well done - you got there!
