A Question For Site Designer.

So I was doing on-page SEO for a client...
Going through his php / html.

I came across a display:"none" href link, that is in h1 tags. .. on every page...

So... that's kinda like a free invisible link juice, in the designer's favorite anchored text. And invisible.

Is this common practice? If it is... does your client know about it?

  • it's very dodgy if the client doesn't know. usually the designer credits him/herself at the bottom of the page in the footer (eg Site designed by). This person obviously wanted the power of the h1 tags
  • hmm.. personally i feel crediting is fine.
but in h1 tags.. and invisible....

pfft -.- so this ain't common practice?

    • So you want to hi-jack someones invisible h1 tags hey???? Shady man, very shady... I hope you don't do it and if you do I hope they find out your using their resources to promote your site and fry you.

PS, giving credit in the header or footer code is ok normally and credit below the visible footer is normally ok but you still need to make the client aware and ask their permission. But don't hi-jack someones code like that, that's just plain wrong.
