Hi all,
this may be splitting hairs but...

The question is about naming pages.

Lets say we are targeting the keyword "Austin Lawyer" and our domain is
www.YourSite.com

Would you add a page like:

www.yoursite.com/AustinLawyer
or
www.yoursite.com/Austin-Lawyer

Does it matter? Am I getting too into the details?

Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
K

its always preferred to use no hyphens in the url.

I say always based on the experience i have had over the last 2 years of different courses and programs, as well as discussions on this very topic.

I'm not really sure how or why people started using hyphens but i think its agreed amongst the more knowledgeable in the field of domain names that you keep away from hyphens.

    Hi Kpick,

I have 4+ years experience in SEO field and never recommend any one to use the name of inner pages without hyphen (-) or underscore (_). You can guess these thing from any Article site, blog site, social networking site or even forum site.

    Let prove it.
    We are reviewing following page
    http://www.warriorforum.com/website-...imization.html

It is a file name created by Forum. You just added your title and it will come with a page where your title's spaces are replaced with hyphens (-) and same effect you can see on Facebook when we create a page, the spaces in page name replaced with hyphens automatically.

And alternatively you can also use underscore (_) as most famous site wikipedia.org and Digg.com etc use _ define a space between keyword.

Some of my friend says if we search WEBDEVELOPMENT in google then google suggest us did you mean WEB DEVELOPMENT it means google understand the sub-words in a word, so why do we need to use hyphen and underscore.
But they forgot one things when some one asked us read this sentence "GOOGLESEARCH" then we can tell him that it is GOOGLE SEARCH, but take more time to ans than if someone asked it as "GOOGLE SEARCH". Same things apply on Google.

No hyphens are used in domain names to make it easy to type. For URLs, you should use hyphens or underscores because this makes it easy recognize the keywords.

"Smartyink" can be "Smarty-Ink" or "Smart-Yink". A hyphen removes that doubt.

xtrapunch is indeed correct, hyphens also make the url readable, plus the fact that it is much easier to recognize the keyword used.

Use hyphens if it makes it more understandable.

expertsexchange.com is a popular place to get your questions answered on programming stuff.

they changed their domain name to
    experts-exchange.com

because without the hyphen it can be un-clear what your domain is about...
    expert-sex-change.com

    For anything after the domainname.com/better-to-use-hyphens-especially-with-long-urls
