WP maintenance splash needed?

Hey all,

I do not particularly like that the changes on my WordPress site are seen in real time on my domain.

One idea to circumvent that would be to build a custom maintenance splash page i could display as long as i am building my site.
Although i do not know how i could check my changes at the times the splash page is live. (Yes i am a WP newbie).

Or are there better ways to do something like this?

Cheers

  • You can make a new page, name it something random and set it to private under visibility. The content will be only visible to you and no one else.

  • If I'm doing work that will take more than half an hour, I will use a plugin call "Maintenance Mode"

Maintenance Mode Plugin — Software Guide

I turn it on, it tells people the site will be "back soon" (or whatever you tell it to say).

Then when you're finished you turn it off.
