Need help with accessing the CP of my website

Hi all,

I honestly could use some expert advice and assistance please.

I had the misfortune of dealing with a South African 'web designer' who pitched well & made all the right noises with regards to designing two websites for me to market my gifting hampers service (www.carmarcreations.co.za) as well as my declutter & organisational service (www.exertion4gratification.co.za) until he had received payment from me which happened at the beginning of february this year. Sadly I was referred by a friend who now just pulls up their shoulders with regards to the shoddy service I have received.

After that it has been an endless battle just to get my sites up and running as he has been rude, abrupt, dismissive & completely unreliable. He also seems not to have understood what I needed as discussed extensively in the two briefs we had prior to him commencing with work on my sites as the end results are disastrous.

As the gifting hamper site is only a basic site I am not sure there is much I can do to change anything to that site for the better. I however paid for a bits & bytes package for the declutter & organisational business as he recommended that I will need this option to add future images & project details to my site as they take place (www.exertion4gratification.co.za).

What I would like to ask is the following:

1. He has not given me access to my control panel for my bits & bytes package ( I have requested this via endless mails, telephonic messages, etc since beginning of april when the site was finally operational totally in vain) Is there anyway I can access my CP without having the username & password he obviously used to create it? The reason I need access is because he only loaded 'before' images of projects I had tackled and not 'after' images which makes my site look like I provide a cluttering service instead of a decluttering service and I need to rectify this as I would like to run a charity drive with this business.

2. Once I have access to this site, how do I go about adding the 'after' images next to the 'before' images in each instance. Apologies, but he agreed to provide me with a basic training manual to do this during our consultation as I advised him that I would not know where to start adding content. Sadly, as with the access, the training manual was never received, despite numerous requests for this.at

3. How can I setup my two 'info' mails: info@carmarcreations.co.za and info@exertion4gratification.co.za so that I receive notifications in my gmail inbox?

4. What I suspect is that this guy is knowingly taking people's money and sabotaging their sites so that they will never be able to use these sites effectively for business. What concerns me more is that his service is consistently listed on page 1 of google which means that he will continue to pull in unsuspecting victims. Is there anywhere one can report such a service anonymously as this guy has been plain rude and dismissive to me on the rare occassions that he has actually answered my calls when I was requesting details as to the completion of my projects, CP details, etc. I am worried that he will 'mess' with my online sites (I have 5, including the 2 he has created) if he knows that I have reported his truly unprofessional service. All I want to do is try and help others avoid the trap I have fallen into by trusting that he will deliver a service which they have paid good money for only to be dissapointed later.

I find it truly heart-breaking that people will knowingly provide a sub-standard service to people who have paid good money for a service which they usually cannot perform themselves.

I would really appreciate some advice in this regard.

Thanking you all in advance.

I've had a quick look - Looks like the developer owns the domain name and the hosting.

    servage.net
    tswg.co.za

There is no shortcut to getting access to your CP. As you have paid for this service you need to tell the developer to hand over the CP details otherwise mention legal action etc.

    Good luck.

The changes you want to make are very simple - you can email me at tbartlett@envisioncreating.com if you want assistance.

In future, you can buy the domain and hosting yourself and create a separate FTP for the developer. This way you can delete the FTP when the work is over.

      Exactly!

Never ever give up complete control of your websites to a web developer.
Deal with a web developer who gives you access to both your domain's registrar and your hosting cpanel.

      take care and good luck!

Try contacting the website host - usually it would be domain.com/cpanel and you would put in your username and password.

    Hope that helped

    I'm confused

who bought that domain? and who paid for monthly hosting?

If you paid for the above, shouldn't you get emails from webhosting company and access to billing platform?

If that guy bought the domain for you (and listed on his name) ... well, prepare to negotiate.

There's no way you can "ask google to de-list" him from SERP just because "he didn't do a good job", that's very subjective.

Even if he scam your money, I think google needs court order for proof... unless the site is look like a scam site of sort (counterfeit or something)

I have the same question, who owns the domain and what account is the domain in and where is it hosted?

If you need a new web developer, I have a portfolio, a verified business Paypal account, and real customer testimonials. I'll give you your own login details that you can set the password to so only you have it.

Those sites are really bare and I can complete what is left over. I also own a hosting company so I am available for 24/7 support and I will never be rude. I usually respond within minutes. You can PM here or send me an email : dustinp at dpbloghost.com

If you have control over the domain, we can scrap the websites and re build it in a matter of days and it will be completed to your specifications. I am very sorry to hear you have been mistreated. I also get extremely frustrated when I hear these stories because these crooks give web developers a bad name and drive off potential customers.
