Building A Site Offline.... Should I Bother?

I just got Ithemes, builder. I'm not a complete newbie to working around a site, but there's going to be a learning curve for me with this. Will taking the time to work on it online be OK, or should I do it offline? I'm wondering if SEO will be effected while I'm taking the time to create it. Would putting a no follow satisfy this concern?

Any advice on this is appreciated, thanks.

If you mean blocking search engine access as you develop, this is a bad idea. It will take longer for them to revisit your site because you blocked them prior.

I would create a subdomain like dev.your-domain.com and develop the site there (you can do this easily in cpanel - just search for subdomains in the admin)

Thanks for the advice. So, once I get the site designed, I can transfer those files to the main domain?

sure - the best thing to do is do a new install of WP on the real domain and move the theme files over when you're done. Then you don't have to worry about any file/permalink issues that happen as you develop content, upload images via wp, etc.
