I have been thinking of switching from my Flexx Pro IThemes theme to Thesis. However, I don't want to screw anything up. For some reason I am anticipating this being a complete pain to make sure everything "translates". What should I do beforehand to safeguard against Operator Error?!

I don't think its as simple as you think.

If you have the ability to create a subdomain via cpanel - I would setup a separate install of wordpress and test out the new framework and theme there.

Thanks for the help. I have no illusions that it will be simple at all, hence the post.

In the most basic sense, as long as you set up the same basic layout - meaning same number of columns - there won't be any problems.

Where you may need to do some work is if your current theme has some unique features, such as a feature box or a featured article panel that you're using.

If this is the case you'll need to work out how you're going to replicate those functions on Thesis - because it will almost certainly be different from the way you do it currently.

Setting up a test blog on a subdomain (something I always recommend), importing some posts and playing around with Thesis is definitely a good idea.

You can do almost anything you like with Thesis, but it does involve a learning curve.

That said, both the user guide and the forum support are excellent and you can pick up information you need very quickly there.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

Thank you Martin, that is about what I needed to hear. I have a dozen mini-sites that are all Thesis, but my main (original) site is Ithems Flexxx Pro. The more and more I use Thesis I want all my sites to use it. Just was wondering if I was biting off more than I can chew.

I don't have any complicated feature on the Flexxx theme so shouldn't have too many conflicts. Going to wait till I have a few hours to play with it, and then give it a try.

      Thanks for the heads up.
