Fellow Warriors I need some help....

I created a Wordpress review for an affiliate offer that's finally starting to rank nicely for specific keywords and seeing a little action. Tonight I noticed, about 50% of my redirect links (linking to my other external website URL's) keep redirecting within the WP blog only?

In short, my banners & affiliate links to my main offer all redirect to the proper external URL without fail.

However, in the posts, sidebar, and footer, I cannot seem to figure out why certain links are showing as an extension of my WP post URL and receiving a "Page Not Found 404 Error?", rather then redirecting to an outside URL as intended?

Somehow, it's as if the permalink of my post is over-riding the actual link, but it's only certain links that are effected not all of them.

Is there a plug-in? or perhaps I am missing something here?

Seems bizarre as the links are written right, so I am guessing it's the structure of the theme or relevant to having just updated to 3.2 maybe?

Basically, I am offering bonus materials that can be viewed on a few separate URL's to sweeten the offer, but upon testing the links...they insist on directing the link within my WP address?

Appreciate any possible suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I have seen something similar when people don't write/type the URLs correctly: if you miss the http:// part from the beginning, the link will NEVER go out - just added to the end of your posts' permalink.

The URLs do NOT start with www. as many people think. (Actually, the www part is even obsolete...) Every correctly formatted URL starts with http://

Definitely not an issue writing the links correctly. They are working fine on other sites, and due to this issue, I have checked each link 3-4 times.

The Theme I used is a free Intrepitity theme, and I can add Hostgator links...Aweber links...but links to my personal URL's will not redirect...very strange!

I didn't say you are typing the links incorrectly, just reminded (anyone reading this thread) about a very common mistake.

Next. Themes should not interfere with links format but we should never underestimate the stupidity of self-appointed "theme designers".

Do you have any plugin that might affect links?

This is what I'd do for troubleshooting.

    1. To rule out the theme: switch to the default WP theme and make a post with the same links. Check.

    2. If switching themes didn't solve it: deactivate all the plugins and try it again. If it works, try activating the plugins one by one and always check when the links get broken again.

perhaps you have an error in your roots .htaccess file or an error in the way you formatted the permalinks in the settings menu.

It is possible that you're copying the links in from a Word document? I've had that issue pop up before when I work on content in word. Editing the link in the actual post typically fixes the problem, even if it looks perfectly coded. Just delete and re-type.
