Wordpress PR when switching to paid version

Have a question I never thought to ask before, since my blog did not have any PR till this last update. I just transferred everything to a self-hosted WP site, and the PR is 0....but on my wordpress.com site it is 2.

Will this new site pick up the same PR, or am I starting over from scratch? If that is the case, will it hurt anything to keep both going until I build up some PR on this new one?

You're starting over from scratch because it's a brand new site. You'll probably have to wait for some PR, especially if the domain is also brand new. If you've transferred all the content from the free site to the new one, I don't see any reason to keep the old one going. As long as you keep posting original content and building backlinks to the new site, PR will come.

Since you redirect the free blog to the new paid one, the pagerank should transfer.

Are all search results for the free blog jumping to the same post on the new blog?
