Wordpress Theme Builders

Hey all,
Anyone have any recommendations for a Wordpress theme builder? I have some experience with Flexibility and I found iThemes Builder but I'm sure there are more out there, some better than others.

I'm really looking for a builder that will make WP look more like a traditional website, not blog-looking. I don't really need to create mini-sites but more like full sites. Also, something that can be used for multiple sites. I know I can d/l a theme and customize it but I'm really looking to start from scratch and design my own theme(s).

Any recommendations are really appreciated.

    • you might want to check out headway (google it). it's a drag and drop interface that looks promising. I have not tried it.

    • Thanks for the recommends! I'll be checking those tonight.
  • StudioPress is legit. I've used it before.
  • yeah i would go studiopress, alot of options to play with there

    • I've looked at both StudioPress and Headway sites. Right off the bat, StudioPress's site design, navigation, and flow is terrible when compared to Headway's site. Interesting to note that Headway put a "powered by Headway..." in their footer where StudioPress didn't.

Of course, those are all 1st impressions but you know how that goes.
  • Hi Techie,

    Check out these themes:

  • Artisteer can be used to build some nice looking WP sites. Code is a little unclean though.

    • So, does anyone know if you can use Artisteer to create themes that look like a traditional website (non-blog looking) running on Wordpress?

  • Hey techie and anyone else who'd like to chime in,

Have you heard anything or have any experience with the Catalyst | Premium WordPress Theme?
This is NOT an affiliate link, btw.
I'm curious, cause it looks really nice. Any help or answers would be great thanx. I'm not a programmer or anything and I'm looking for something like techie. Thanx for any response or help!

  • I'm going to jump in and recommend my own theme building plugin, but it's completely free and GPL so I'm hoping that's okay.

I personally feel it's a much stronger option than anything else out there, and because it's GPL you can do much more with what you create.

I've taken a different approach to others in that instead of making a theme with a giant caboose of options that have to get dragged around anywhere you use the theme, I created a plugin that you use to edit a stand alone theme. All the options are in the plugin, not the theme itself. So you use the plugin on the theme, save everything, then you can take that theme and use it anywhere you like.

You can check out the plugin, which is called The Website Weaver, here at the WordPress repository: WordPress › The Website Weaver « WordPress Plugins It's a free download.

And the base theme you can use the plugin on, which is called the AAA Starter and is also free, is available for download here: The AAA Starter Professional WordPress Theme | SpiderWeb Press

Regarding making a theme that doesn't look blogish, there's a bunch options in there designed for exactly that purpose.

    Hope it helps you out!

    • Kezz,

Thanx so much for your recommendation...your plugin and theme looks really clean and awesome! Quick question, what other themes, besides the AAA Starter Pro Theme | SpiderWeb Press will your Website Weaver plugin work with, or are there any others besides that one?

Thanx again, and I'm looking forward to your response!

    • I could not find this one in the repository

Free download? - only if the plugin is purchased
      looks interesting tho
  • What is a full site ?

    • I consider a mini-site to be a 1-page website, like a sales page with a call to action at the bottom. I consider a full site to be a complete website with different pages (about, services, products, location, contact, etc).
  • I also use The Website Weaver - is pretty awesome.
  • You can design your own WP theme as a PSD file and then hire a programmer to code it.
