Blog with standard html structure?

I have a sales site with a WP blog installed in its own directory:

http://mysite.com/blog

I bought a new HTML theme for my main site and the theme includes its own blog page. However, this "blog" has the same html structure as the static site with a few blog features added to make it look and function like a blog.

As far as I can tell, the new blog will work fine for me. I can install it in the directory same as my current WP blog.

But I worry that there may be SEO implications in changing the blog structure from WP to regular HTML...

Do the SEO advantages of a blog come from its dynamic content or from its page structure? Maybe a little of both?

The author of the theme claims to be working on a WP version. Would it be wise for me to wait for the WP version or would I get the same results with the HTML "blog"?

  • Important is to have quality backlinks and i think that you can get the same results with both , no matter if is wordpress or sometings else...

    Your site will get top rankings depending on article that you write ...

    So to be short my advice is to focus on backlinks quality and content.
  • Oh God it's ghastly . Anyway AFAIK SEO is not related to the fact that you have WP or HTML blog the advantage comes from the fresh pure content . Search Engines strive to deliver the best content for their users therefore they go bonkers for fresh content . If you where to blog on a daily basis that would give you quite a bit of credibility in the eyes of SE . OFC in your case you'll have to do the internal SEO by hand , which although is preferred to WP it can be bothersome for non-technical persons .

    Also what do you mean he's "working" on WP theme . If he has any idea of what he's doing it won't take him more then 24-48 hours . After all you're paying him .
  • Other than duplicate content if you move the posts to the new blog it should be no other SEO issues. You could redirect to the new address so the link juice won't be lost.
    It is much easier though to do SEO with WP than on a HTML blog but it's up to you.

    • My new HTML theme came from a theme sales site ( themeforest.net - I recommend it). The theme designer isn't doing the WP version for me but to offer to the public on the theme site.

      But it seems like the WP project has become stalled and so my best option is to have a custom WP theme designed to match my new HTML site. I want to use the plug-ins and other advantages that come with WP.

      Can anyone recommend a designer for the conversion? It should be pretty simple because it's just taking a good, basic WP theme and changing the appearance.
