Theme for site question

Hello everyone this is my first post but I have looked around here for a while and have found tons of great info. Thanks!

Anyways I have a little bit of knowledge setting up wordpress blogs and doing some optimization. I have an opportunity to build a website for an attorney. When I look at the competition they have the sites that have the long opt in form on the side of the page asking for information such as name, bday, address, etc. Are there wordpress themes that support this? Or is anyone familiar with the best way to go about setting up something like this? I am mostly familiar with free themes I have found but am willing to pay some money to get the right one. I was going to add a link to a website I had found that I basically would like to mirror but wasn't sure if that would violate any rules of the forum (don't wanna mess up my first one).

    Hi Ian,

    Those forms are not dependent on a theme.

    On WordPress the easiest option is to use a forms plugin (Contact Form 7 or cforms11 are a couple I've used) to set up your form and then place the code it generates into a text widget (if you want the form in the sidebar) or on a Contact Us page.

    Fitting the form into a text widget in the sidebar will almost certainly mean that you have to restrict the lengths of the displaid fields - but this doesn't affect the number of characters that the fields can capture.

      Thanks Martin,

      I checked out those plugins and that was exactly what I was looking for. I also ran across a plug in called gravity forms that seemed to be pretty good, lots of options at least. Any experience with that plug in? I am really glad it is just dealing with wordpress, was starting to sweat thinking I might have to get into the real technical side of things.
