Best CMS for authority sites?

I'm gonna start building an authority site soon.
And i was wondering what's the best CMS?
I've only used wordpress for smaller 10-50page sites.
Would wordpress work for much larger sites or is there another CMS better suited for such a project?

    hi Izerman,

    no doubt that wordpress is a good CMS for small websites but i will recommend you to have a look a drupal. it's a very robust cms and many big websites like ubuntu.com has been built on this drupal cms.

    it's also highly scalable which will be needed by you as your website grows in the feature.

    Drupal is good, but don`t forget about Wordpress it give`s you lot. Also there are more plugins for it, then Drupal one`s.

    It actually depends on the niche of your website.. Normally Wordpres is good for such CMS..

    There is no need to go any other route than WordPress. Its not the CMS that creates the authority anyway. Theres also active (free) plugin developmentcommunity, lots of knowledgeable programmers etc that can easily fix whatever you want.

    There are some problems, like slowness, with the permalinks on post and pages with large number of pages/post but that is just when you have just /%postname%/ in permalink structure need to use /%id%/%postname/ for example to circumenvent the performance problem.
