I'm currently using wordpress and I am facing a problem now. I found out that there is no "preview page" function with the theme editor.

Anyway to do the HTML coding behind the scene?

No there isn't. There never was...

That's why reasonable people never edit the theme's template files online. There is no "undo" button!

    I've always edit them online.

Just save the code on notepad, or you do have the original files right?

I will usually edit the template online unless I am doing a complex template modification, in which case I will use a local staging copy per amilajoy suggestion, or a staging copy of the site.

If I am editing online, such as for a quick easy change, I'll still always either make a backup copy of the file on the server (using SSH cp filename filename.bak1) or FileManager if you don't use SSH/sell.

OR as spesialis suggests, copy the whole file from the online editor before making any changes, into a local editor such as Notepad, saving that file before making any changes.

If you need to do previewing without affecting live content, either make a copy of the template file and work on the copy, then test by assigning that template to a test page, or use a staging environment; local or hosted.

Always follow the essential rule. Have a backup.

Optional rule. Have a backup of your backup.

    Hope that helps.
