How do you create clear banner ads like the ones in this Forum?

Hey Warriors,

I'm wondering how others are using to make their banners so clear?

What free and VERY simple to use programs I can use to make a good quality banner?

I've made a test one and it looks fuzzy and low quality. I've attached it to this post. IT says "how do you make this clear"... I made this one with Microsoft Word.

Any tips or suggestions?

Also, is that the same way internet marketers make that attractive eye catching (image) text in their sales letters?

Would really love any suggestions.

Thanks.

Yes, don't use a word processor to create images.

Since you want free or low cost, try GIMP, GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program It's like photoshop.

the reason your example of a worse banner above looks crappy is that you saved it as a lossy jpeg with low quality setting. always save images as PNG, and if they are simple enough (no blurring, shading effects), you should convert the color space (from RGB) to indexed to achieve much lower image size.

You also might checkout www.xheader.com. They also have a couple of tutorial videos to get you started.

    Good luck!

I use Gimp for bitmaps, Inkscape for vectors (they are both open source) and some other commercial software programs as: "Aleo Flash Intro Banner Maker", "Aleo 3D Flash Slideshow Creator", "Banner Maker Pro", "Banner Designer Pro"
