Too Many H1 Tags - How Can I Correct This?

Greetings,

I'm being told by a couple of different programs that my wordpress sites have too many H1 tags, Two to be exact. Does Wordpress automatically make H1 tags? Is there a way I can correct this?

    You'll only want 1 H1 tag per page for SEO purpose and usually, it is the title of the page or post. The H1 tags are hardcoded in the themes file or it can be inserted via widgets section. You can PM me a link to your website and we'll see how to correct that.

    It automatically add's them in the themes because their used on multiple websites. You should be able to edit the H1 and all in the CSS file for the theme to H2 or whatever you wish. In the "Header" file, there should be something that says "blog_title" or something, change that to echo "<h1> your blog title </h1>" if you want, I can do it for you.

    Wordpress doesn't create H1 tag automatically. For a particular website 1 h1 tag is used per one page. You may use more than h2 tag but h1 tag is only one. You can modify your h1 tag which is mentioned in your CSS file. Give that to your website keyword or title.
