How do you give limited dashboard access to a client in WP?

Is there a way in WP to have full rights as admin but for yourself but also have a login that limits a user so they can add/edit posts/pages and make other basic changes but not have access to the whole dashboard so they can't mess anything up?

It would be better still if the user could only see the limited areas they have access to so they aren't intimated by the whole WP dashboard

I've found a few plugins with a search am looking for recommendations from someone who is using one and likes it.

Thanks, RMX

Its a standard function in Wordpress.......Add new user then set them to be a subscriber or author.

    1. Log in to your Wordpress back end dashboard

    2. Select 'Users' from the toolbar on the left

    3. Select 'Add New'

    4. Create a username and password for your client and enter your client's email address in the appropriate fields. You can fill the other fields in as well if you like but they are not necessary to create the login.

    5. Change the user permissons in the drop down box labelled 'Role'. I think subscriber has the least permissions (basically read only) and of course Administrator has the highest access. Administrators can do anything they want to.

As others have said - create a new user and assign the appropriate role for what you want them to be able to do. Here's a full discussion on WP roles (there's a chart about halfway down the page that lays it out at a glance): Roles and Capabilities « WordPress Codex
