I thought it was only temporary... :(

About a month ago, the kitchen sink on most of my Wordpress websites disappeared.

I researched the issue and found recommendations like turning on the visual editor in the Users section of the admin area, deactivating/reactivating installed plugins, changing themes, etc. I tried them but it didn't solve the problem.

So I decided to wait thinking maybe the issue was just a bug or something and that it would get fixed with the next WP update.

I was wrong. As of this writing, I still can't access the kitchen sink on my Wordpress dashboard and I'm starting to go nuts about it.

Can anyone please help me out of this? How do I get back the kitchen sink/visual editor?

    • I checked your site out and I can't really figure out what your talking about but something I did notice is your site take for ever and a day to load. I got dial-up like many people still do. Just something you might want to think about.

I think you should concentrate on making just one image for your main page background instead of having flash, that's what is doing you in.

  • Hey I can take a look at this for you if you can trust me enough to PM me the info . It could be a variety of reasons!

    • You would never be able to figure out what I am talking about because you were looking at a different website. I am having a problem with my site, but not the one in my signature.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give the Tiny MCE plugin a try.

Thanks for chiming in. No, the kitchen sink is still missing even when I change to the 2011 theme. And my browser is also enabled for javascript. I have also tried loading the site's WP admin area in Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari - the problem persists, there's no kitchen sink.

      Here's how it looks:

  • Seems to me that your editor is stuck in HTML mode. This could also be caused by filepermission/ownership issues. Can you get your hosting provider to take a look into that?

    • They're on it, trying to help me. Problem is, they see the kitchen sink okay. It's showing at their end.
