I'm a newbie and don't know anything about tweaking codes, etc

I'm using a woo theme and created a static home page, and gave it another name other than home (The website is going to be in Spanish). Now I have a duplicate Home page.

So I went to the theme editor and then to the header.php to try to remove that part of the code so that I have only one home page (static page i created) but, this theme is telling me the following:

You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the codex for more information.

So I have no idea on how to do that. And the website is hosted on Wealthy affiliate hosting and I am not very familiar with.

I would really appreciate if some help regarding this matter.

Thank you

Do you have FTP access to the file, or a File Manager? If you do you need to change the permissions (otherwise called CHMOD) of the file before you can save your edits.

It also sounds like you are directly editing the file, as opposed to editing the theme offline and then uploading your changes. If this is the case I certainly hope you have a backup of the theme!

Once you've sorted out your "permissions", try checking out this tutorial which may help:

The great thing about Wordpress is that bcos it is so widely used, there are plenty of solutions available on Google - we're rarely the first one to experience a problem
