How I should integrate videos into my website

I am creating a website for someone using Wordpress. I have to include videos on the site. The hosting site is Hostgator. I will be adding many videos to the website. What suggestions do you have for me to add these videos (the videos are sensitive information and need to be protected so I will be putting them in a member's area)? I thought of using Unlisted Youtube video links in the protected member's area, as I can't make the videos public. For example, is there some sort of free wordpress plugin that will allow me to add the videos to the site (not the Youtube Wordpress plugin though). I hope this makes sense. Where should I upload the videos so that they don't slow down the operation of the website? Looking forward to your input.

You can use flowplayer or other similar plugin to add video to the site. All videos will be hosted on your server.

    Hi Kim

Why not host the videos on Amazon S3? And if speed is a concern use CloudFront to stream them. By streaming the video your users won't incur any delay in loading them.

S3 is dirt cheap, we host dozens of videos there and with the streaming it costs a couple of dollars per month. We use JW Player to play them, as it's really simple to setup for streaming.

      Hello,
I was going through as many threads as possible to find a way to stream videos securely. I have the jwplayer and my videos are on amazon s3. The files are huge because I am a dog trainer and the videos can be a bit long. My question is how do you stream your videos and keep them secure at the same time. I bought s3media vault but it dosnt work with streaming videos. Can you tell me how you set your videos up. Any advice would be great. thank you so much

Jasonrae, you should repost this as its own post so that you get more viewers. I do not know the answer to your question. I am still waiting to receive the videos from the website owner, so I haven't had to tackle this yet.

Just reading up on S3. Are you sure that it's available to those who live in Canada?

It is free for non-commercial use, otherwise there is a one time license fee.

You can also stream to FlowPlayer, but it requires a bit of coding.

If you look at my profile you'll notice that I'm in Montreal - and I have five S3 accounts! So I'd have to say yes.

Hmmmm.... you just simply create an account on Youtube and upload your video to your account then get the embed codes by copying and paste it to your website....

Kayetaylor, I know how to use Youtube for videos on websites. I'm looking for an alternative way, as I have videos that are of sensitive info. that I don't want the whole world to see. Even if you use the Private option on YouTube, you can only share the URL with 50 users. With the unlisted option on YouTube, you can share your link with unlimited users, but you have to ensure that they don't post the link on a forum otherwise then your video becomes public.
