Hello,
I have a question for those who are expirence with WP and regular websites.
I read WP is SEO established and regular websites are not. I also read that WP sites are less secure than regular websites.

Is there any truth to any of this? I was thinking of an WP site but I wanted more experience person to give me some info. The site will be selling services to businesses, so it is not a nice site.

I have one more question. I can do basic html but I don't know anything about building a wp site or editing a wp template. Does anyone know of a designer that is reputable and also purse friendly. I am a little scared of fiverr. I don't know about odesk, elancer, etc.

Thanks for the help

If you only know basic html and plan on making a site for profits, I do not recommend building a website from scratch. WP is a very user friendly/newbie friendly content management system. Even if you know nothing about WP you can still easily have you site up and running in a matter of minutes. There are alot of free wp tutorials available on the web.
If you want an excellent paid tutorial visit this link [DO NOT post affiliate links!]. Yes this is a clickbank product. It is the one I first used when learning WP and it allowed me to rank pretty well in google search engine. My site gets an average of 2000 visits per week due to this tutorial. It also covers SEO pretty well.
Buy from my link if you find the product interesting. It has lots of video tutorials. It also has a membership area to keep you updated on the latest info. I am still a member up till today.
    Hope this helps

    Hi,

Use Wordpress, it will much easier in the long run to use, modify and expand. Your Wordpress site does not need to be less secure if you stick to regular (simple click of a button) updates and follow the best practice guidelines for securing the install.

As far as design, there are thousands of great templates. You will probably need to look hard to find a good free template, but for less than $50 you can get a top of the line design.

    Good luck!

    To the OP:
    - install WP on your domain
    - find a free theme (there are thousands at wordpress.org) that you don't need to modify
    - read the online manual the Codex and learn how make your site more secure

You don't have "build" anything. WordPress is a CMS = content management system and if you can write an email or make a post here - then you can make posts in WP, too.

Thank all of you for your help.

Your suggestion are great. Thanks for clarifying the answers to my questions.
I am just going to take the plunge and do it. If I need help I will have to seek some out but I think from what everyone is saying, I should be okay by myself.

WP is good in search engine friendly urls, you can open forums also on same domain which can give you better traffic.

You should definitely go with Wordpress, it is the most time saving factor in building websites and optimizing them (plugins, themes etc.).

    And time is money!
