Please recommend Wordpress theme

I'm just starting out in WP and little overwhelmed by all the
themes. I want to create simple niche websites with a
banner I'll put at the top and my categories to the right.

It will be more of a static website than a blog.

I've seen the "thesis" theme that was popular a while
back, and Woo themes. But just looking for one
simple flexible them that I can do the above.

Please give me your recommendation.

  • You must go with Thesis theme, it is one of the best and wonderful theme. A little bit learning period but after that this is the most flexible WordPress theme that I ever had. So my recommendation is only to go with thesis.

  • Like steve mentioned, there are many options open to you.

    You say that your starting out in WordPress, therefore I'd suggest taking a look at Themeforest.

    Why? A lot of the WordPress templates are well designed, come with author support and have options panel to make managing the theme and making changes to it easier. Once you get more confidence with WordPress and its themes, then look at some of the other theme players in the market, like DIYThemes, StudioPress and WooThemes.
