does anyone know if you can take a word doc lets say a sales page and paste it straight into wordpress and have it looking exactly like it was when it was created in word?
i have been using the word icon in wordpress but i still have to edit it to the way i like, is there another way?
thanks

Can you post a link to download your word doc?

I have a plugin in beta that should be able to do that.

Once I have the doc I will see if that plugin still works for converting word.

You can always just email it directly at -> climate@socialstats.org

    Good Luck!
  • I am not sure if the fonts of wordpress supports doc fonts unless you are using common times new roman. Images should be uploaded, and other formats..
  • Select 'save as html' and then paste the html code into your WP page/post.

You may need to upload images separately if you've used them.

It's quick and very simple so you shouldn't run into any problems.

If you do - PM me and I'll help you out.

  • Short answer: no, you can't.

Longer version: the code in an MS Word document is NOT meant to be displayed online on the web. Even when pasted in online applications (i.e. text area of a CMS) it gets garbage code and quite often can cripple the whole WP installation. What the "Word" icon does in WP: cleans up part of the garbage from the code... hence the need to re-edit.

Basically, I see two solutions only: you write the copy in a simple text editor, like NotePad or PSPad and format it in WP; or you don't use WP for sales pages.

P.S. Andy's solution is a good compromise... (not that it creates good html code)
