Great question . . . this is one I am constantly asking, too.

One idea may be to use image, map to help reduce the number of images to download. I did this to help a page at Black Goose Chimney ‹ The Blacker the Goose, The Cleaner the Chimney with the long list of associates at the bottom of the page.

Another recommendation would be to preload our images. This helps the speed of the page so the PAGE is downloading first while the images are coming through.

      Hope that helps.

Let us know what you implement to solve the download time issue.

    Hi,

Use firefox and install firebug Add on. Activate the firebug add-on using F12 button, and then go to the "Net" tab. There you will find actual time taken by every action which happens when your page loads. This would not solve the problem directly, but once you have go the stats, you can see clearly which component is taking time to load and you will get more specific things to work on while optimizing the website.

And if everything is taking time, its better to change the host or raise a complaint with your hosting provider.

First check the all published modules and visible modules then unpublish the unnecessary modules from joomla admin panel. Remove or unpublish the invisible or unwanted menus and articles as well.

Cleaning (maintenance) of the site will surely improve the speed of page loading.
After the cleaning of joomla website, if still you notice that page load time should be decreased then

2- install firefox with firebug extension and inspect the loaded images, if they are too much then all small images can be gethered as a css sprite into a single file. Although this step will requires css knowledge to change the elements background positions but this step will reduce the client to server http requests for each image and result will be faster loading web pages.

But i had told you in my original post that I had reduced the size of each image to a limit..that is only 2-3 kb for an image...and also modules and plugins are used in less numbers..so speed up has been made..but I think its sufficient...my webmaster says the page load time is 1 sec...thanx to all
