I am using WP for my site. Ok I have it installed. but Now I need to configure it. but I dont know how to get there I was told to use http://domain.com/wordpress/wp-activate.php to get to a page to configure the site. then I can set up a database.

The thing is I have done this before and I cannot remember what i did to make it happen.

Thanks

    • What he said.

Your domain/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php will only work if you uploaded wordpress in a wordpress folder. Otherwise, just follow amritrr's advice.
  • You said that you have WordPress installed but you want to set up a database - you must already have a database set up because if there wasn't one you could not have installed WordPress.

This site may help - it goes through installing WordPress, configuring it, installing themes and plugins and writing your first article:

  • Will be interesting to know who told you to use wordpress/wp-activate.php
  • You must have a database installed first before you can install WordPress, WordPress cannot function without a DB.

  • How does it work on my side:
    1) Download a new Wordpress package
    2) Extract it to hosting
    3) Setup a database
    4) Open in browser domain with new Wordpress
    5) After point 4 it always give me a screen with setup of new blog.

    Easy as it looks.
