frustrated newbie needs help !!

Hello everyone
I've literally just joined the forum and really need help. My website was bought ready made from someone who has not responded to my requests for help.
My present theme is Heatmap Asense 2.5.4 and I have just purchased the prov5 version. When I attempted to install it via my WP admin panel I discovered that there is no 'install theme' tab. WP was installed by my host which is Arvixe. Is this an installing or settings problem? Please excuse my ignorance.
I purchased this site via flippa.com 6 months ago and the seller promised me one to one support for a month as I told him I was a total newbie. I've spent all this time trying to find out how to change affiliate IDS, adsense codes and any links or associations on the site that are to do with him or his business. Sorry to waffle on but I'm finding all this really rather depressing. I've already posted my question on a couple of forums but no one has responded as yet. I really hope someone can help me here. I cant express how much I'll appreciate it !

    It sounds like you may need to find a different Web Host.

    I could offer you a shared or reseller hosting package at a VERY affordable (discounted for Warrior Forum Members like you!) price, which will allow you to host your own websites/domains and your own installations of a fully functional wordpress instead of the feature limited version you're using now.

    ^ Why are you trying to profit from his misfortune!? LOL

    I think your host is perfectly fine... If you are not too savvy, I would suggest hiring someone on odesk or scriptlance or something, possibly use the warrior for hire forum.

    I'm not sure what the problem could be.

    I know that wordpress.com blogs can not be used to install a theme... only wordpress.org self hosted blogs.

    Are you using wordpress multisite by any chance? Because you will need to install a theme differently if that is the case.

    If you recently updated to 3.1.2 then that could also be the problem I suppose, I remember a few people having that issue a while back.

    Give some more details if possible, might be able to help.
