  • be grateful if some one could help me out!!
  • Yeah, that's pretty slow. It's hard to tell what's causing the issue because it's a Flash plugin, so I can't look at any code.

My first thought is that the images are all really big and are just taking a long time to load. Are the images optimized for the web? Sometimes people just upload their raw 5MB pictures without realizing how big they are.

If it's not the size of the images, then I'd suggest looking for a new plugin, ideally one written in javascript. There are so many slick, fast javascript plugins available that there's no reason to get hung up on a single Flash gallery.
  • The flash code is around 500KB before you start loading any images, so that certainly doesn't help.

Much better to use a non-flash slideshow/gallery. It will be a lot smaller and hopefully a lot faster.

I ran your site through webpagetest.org and the last 3 images in your gallery are between 2-3MB. That's certainly one big reason for slowness.

  • thanks guys, whats the best option for gallery plugin?
also how do i optimize images for the web?

    thanks
  • I'd recommend getting the images down to the 25-100kb range. To do this, you'll want to convert them to JPEG format and make sure the quality setting isn't too high.

The quality setting is something that most decent image editing programs offer when you choose the "Export" or "Save for Web/Devices" option. This only applies to JPEG, not PNG or GIF.

The quality setting makes a huge difference in the size of the file. I've found that most images can be saved at less than a quarter of their original size with almost no loss in image quality.
  • im just re-sized some images there anywere from 60k - 120kb i will change them all to jpeg aswell,

i will try changing to jpeg now aswell see if theres a improved difference

    thanks a lot
