Google's online social networking service GP1 has crossed 40 million users mark since it was launched in the month of June earlier this year! It was opened to the public on 20th September, just a month back and prior to September; the service was available only through invitation as part of a trial run. It has attracted all these users who are taking big interest in this social networking site.

As a point of interest and comparison, it has taken Facebook Inc. three years after its inception in 2004 to reach the twenty five million users' mark but since then it has climbed gradually and consistently with its user base touching eight hundred million now all over the world.

GP1 is now open to everyone and people are joining at a very fast rate. Google has also done well with its last quarter's earnings. Since June, Google Plus has started eating into the share of the lucrative social networking pie which has up to now been dominated by Mark Zuckerberg's creation, Facebook.

In the last quarter, Google has done 26% better over the last quarter with its net income being close to three billion dollars ending September 2011. This has been largely due to some aggressive advertising business. Google has also registered a gross revenue of around ten billion dollars for this last quarter which is an improvement of around 33% over the same period last year.

Nice to read this advantageous post. In my opinion Google will beat Facebook in future because Google has much feature and much faster than Facebook.

I think Google+ is an attempt by google to "compete" with facebook. And that's where they are at a disadvantage. They enter social networking keeping in mind that they have to be very different from facebook (quite evident from their layout), and in this attempt screwed. We must not forget that google once started wave, which also recieved great response, but had to be stopped.

Wave wasn't a success, but I don't remember Wave having these type of results or positive ground swell from the start. I see articles about +1 everywhere. I guess we'll see.
