Hi Warriors,

I am looking for a platform to use for a new site. I am currently using Ning but which is super easy to customize and the look and feel is easy for people to follow and navigate but has a lot of limitations that I will need for my next venture. Below are the feature that I am looking for in the next platform that i use:
  • Ability to group videos for easier navigation. (ie. all xyz related videos grouped together and all abc related videos together),
  • Ability to allow members access to certain parts of the site while non paying have limited access
  • Ability to allow Google to search only titles of the site but not all content.
  • Easy/nice looking basic platform and have it easily customizable.
Any suggestions would be GREAT!!!

    • Hi Kyle,

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at all of the sites and they don't have a community feel. They are all membership sites but not I am trying to build more of a community. The one thing I like about ning that I would like to keep is the fact you can see members. The downsides are above.

      I appreciate you responding though

    • have you looked at Buddypress?

  • Hi NMH,

It sounds like you're looking for two main things:
    1. Something to restrict content from non-paying members (and to process payments)
    2. Something that makes the site 'more social network'

For content gating and processing payments, I recommend getting started with S2Member. There's a free version of the plugin that should be able to cover the majority of your needs, including gating content and more.

For the social side of things, I'm +1ing YorkieDale - buddypress is great. Added bonus is that it integrates perfectly with S2Member.

    Free and easy.
