Moving quite a big site from HTML to WP

Hi,

My friend has a site in HTML that gets sabotaged constantly and
he wish to move it over to Wordpress so he can use the cloning/backup tool WP twin.
At least it is very easy to redeploy the site very quickly then.
I Dont know of any tool like that for html sites ?

I find it quite daunting and dont know how to go about it since his site is actually a cluster of sites ( timrifat.ru ). Each site has its own section and links. I want to do this on one WP installation, one site. The design part is not very important.

Would it be preferrable to use headway and/or impact ?

Man that sounds like that's going to be trouble.. I've built a few wordpress blogs so I can understand why you would want to use WP..

sounds like you may have roll up the sleeves, buy a new domain (which you will later redirect the old one to from your registar) create the wordpress site and copy each page to your new blog as needed.

If all the content is HTML, you'll just create pages and in HTML mode, paste the content in there.

As for header images, if any, you'll just have to set them up separately to work with your theme. Pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

Sounds to me like it's going to be a lot of copying and pasting. Thats what I would do.

If you're not that tech savvy, I suggest finding some developers on odesk that can handle the task. Just post an ad stating what you need done and your inbox will be full of applicants.

Also, if you need to see what themes work for you, I use a site called wplocker. They have more themes than you can imagine. You should be able to find something that can handle what you're trying to do..

    Best of luck

Dennis has pointed you in a great direction to start. However you can leave you existing content in place and install WordPress alongside.

Move all the current files into a new directory. If you're using a control panel such as CPanel with Fanatisco Delux, installing WordPress is a easy. The hard part, will be copying content over.

As for you last question, Headway themes is ok, but I'd check out StudioPress and WooThemes.

      Hi,

Thanks for your answers. I think I have figured it out, I will probably install a blog with
      multi sites support.
