How to build a Ticketmaster type site?

Hi all,
I need some help please to find out how to proceed with my site idea...

I'd like to create a site similar to Ticketmaster. It'll be for promoting events in the niche I'm involved in and needs to have similar functionality to TM in terms of searching for events by location and artist etc.

I haven't got a huge amount to throw at this so I don't want a bespoke solution. I'm thinking it should ideally be built on Joomla or Drupal or basically a reliable, well known CMS.
My reasoning is they're well supported, reliable, modular, scalable.

Could these systems be used for such a site or do you know of another off the shelf 'ticket site' solution that can be customized to suit?

Also where's the best place to look for the right person/team to build such a site? (I've used eLance, Guru etc before but found it can be pot luck whether you find the right person and I don't have the time or money to get it wrong).

Any help, much appreciated.

    For TicketMaster.com type site WordPress would be a great CMS solution, and you'll find lots of themes, plugins which can be used for building TicketMaster type site.
    WordPress Multi Sites setup, and the plugin "WP Event Ticketing" can help you in this regard...

    And for hiring good team or individuals you should try oDesk Its really good platform with plenty of experienced professionals with very reasonable wage rate.
