SEO PLugins

I am pretty much new to WP, but my general impression is:

the "less the merrier" when it comes to plugins.

Is that right?

Point is - you never know how they interact and I already have had some bad experience with that.

My questions now is: would you say that SEO plugins are a necessity?

I read a lot about a different ones, but I've also seen some WP doing just great without any.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

  • Hello,

It's true some WP Plugin's do not play well with others......

But FOR SURE, SEO Plugins are very necessary if you want to rank well in the search engines.

If you ever have a question on how to configure them, Google the plugins name and then search "videos". That what I've done, and it worked out pretty well.

Here is list that I currently use that do like to play nice:

    All Free

    Google Image Sitemap
    Google Mobile Sitemap
    Google Sitemap Generator
    Google XML Sitemap For Videos
SEO Auto Links And Related Posts
    SEO Image
    SEO No Duplicate
    SEO Tag Cloud
    All-In-One SEO
    Simple Tags

    Paid

    SEO BEAST
    Easy SEO

    • You say All-In-One SEO free version. Is it enough, or I should go for paid?
  • Yes, more plugins means more work for your server. This, in turn, impacts your website speed and performance.

Yes, SEO plugins are absolutely necessary. I use "WordPress SEO". It does a lot of heavy-duty work, including analysis of your page content. You can also use All-in-One SEO. I was using it before WordPress SEO was launched.

  • Free AIOSEOP (all in one SEO Pack) is more than enough. I also really like SEO Pressor by Daniel Tan, good for both noobs and techies alike. But you also need AIOSEOP to do the tags and titles.

    AIOSEOP (free)

SEO Pressor ($97 multi-site license) ($67 for single site)

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

Use All in One SEO free or Platinum SEO free. Don't use anything else that you don't absolutely need as the more plugins, the slower your site AND since the Panda update the Google ranking algorithm can penalize slower sites.
  • I'll back ericbryant's recommendation on SEO Pressor. I use a similar plugin (ClickbumpSEO) that provides the recommendations on how to improve your post for SEO purposes, but I believe SEO Pressor has a couple more bells and whistles on it to do some automated stuff. Clickbump IS less expensive on the front end purchase though. Easy WP SEO also does a similar thing, so you may want to try looking into that.
  • Premium Themes doesn't required SEO plugin.

Remember that SEO plugin just only add a TITLE, KEYWORD and DESCRIPTION in your pages and post, except easywpSEo and seopressor.

  • Just to add even more to my confusion:

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Google does not use the keywords meta tag in web ranking

What do you think of the above?
  • I've been using SEO All in One plugins is really good been helping me out with the keywords and description of your pages
