Problem with no www in domain name with wordpress installed

I just registered a domain name in godaddy.com for it to be hosted. Installed wordpress in it and saw it running couple of times. However, ive noticed that there is no www in my address bar. At first I thought this is just normal however, when I tried to input just my domain name without the www, I couldn't log in to my account, but if i include www in my domain, I could go to the dashboard instantly. The solutions that i've made were:

1. Call the godaddy support, checked the DNS (not solved)
2. Edited the wordpress settings , added www in my url (the problem went the other way around - no www: i can log in, with www: i can't log in.)

    Hey Lance,

is this a regular wordpress install or a multisite install? Multisite installations tend to go without www and are a bit probelmatic to change....

    Cheers,
    Rob

It sounds that the domain DNS is already resolved.

    Who are you hosting with?

Have you flushed your DNS cache?

Have you cleared the cookie that your site left you?

Are you receiving errors? If so which ones?

Have you checked your .htaccess file in the public html?

    Regards,
    FBM.

    1. www is obsolete and you don't need it (actually, nobody needs it)

    2.
    Code:
    www.example.com
    and
    Code:
    example.com
are TWO different addresses - they are NOT the same!

    3. pick one and stick to it - ALWAYS use only that one: especially, when backlinking to your site. NEVER use both URL versions.

I'm am also hosting sites with GoDaddy and have this problem. I am still yet to find where I can stop this from happening.

Is it linked to where my domain name is held?
Is it linked to where my site is hosted?
      Is it linked to Wordpress?

Most of the forum topics i have researched regarding this issue point the problem of the hosting provider. However when i have spoken to the hosting provider they have said it has nothing to do with them!

if I type "www, example, com" into my browser, it automatically changes to "example, com"
Or that's how it is viewed anyway.

If i type the www in the adress bar to access my WP-admin it works when i enter my details to in the login section.

if i add wp-admin onto the adress that my browser has created or without the www it still finds the login page but i cannot enter the dashboard. it just keeps returning to the login screen!

The only website i have that doesnt seem to have this problem (meaning i can login with the www or without the www) is my primary domain with my host provider. All of my other domains within my hosting account are alias domains and they all have the same issue. I don't particularly want to create separate hosting accounts for each of my sites but at this stage it seems the only solution!!

As you have already been told, you should use only one version with or without www. The second one is a better option.

Let us assume you want a domain without www.

        1. Clear all your DNS redirections for the domain in GoDaddy account (or with your hosting provider, if it is different.)
        2. Delete all entries in your .htaccess file on hosting server
        3. Log in to your WordPress account using domain without www
        4. In WP settings, change the URL of your website to non-www version
        5. Make the desired Permalink structure
        6. Redirect the www version of the domain to http version

I assume this site does not have any significant content yet. If the above solution doesn't work, delete the data from your your existing database. Start by pointing to non-www version of your domain. Install WP.

The problem occurs because of wrong installation.
