Problem with wordpress fonts

Hi,
I am having an issue with formatting content in post areas in wordpress, and I was wondering if you warriors could help me.
It seems wordpress has its own opinion about how things should look like. No matter if I underline or I bold or I space lines, when I press 'save' it changes things any way it likes.
I am having this problem with different blogs and 2 friends of mine have reported the same. We all use different themes and versions.
Today I installed TinyMCE advanced, but it still does the same.
Is there anything I can to to prevent this from happening?
I don't mind buying a plugin if I have to.

    • You can also try using a different browser,I sometimes have problems with Firefox and the wordpress dashboard so I switch to chrome,also try to empty your cache on your browser,that sometimes helps me.

    You shouldn't have to buy a plugin to fix this. Are you using a particular Wordpress theme? It could be set up to override text decorations.
  • If you switch to wordpress basic template still have the same issue?
  • What it sounds like to me is not a WordPress problem but your theme. Each theme has a CSS file that defines the style for the site. So even though you bold something or underline something, what you are doing is generating code that is being interpreted by your CSS file and adjusted accordingly. More than likely if you want things to look differently you will need to make an adjustment to your CSS file.

    • Yes she should try to use the default wordpress template to see if have the same issue.
  • I would agree with the above, I'd bet that if the original poster switched to the default WP theme, all of a sudden their text decorations would appear. Theme CSS files will totally override text formatting, I've even seen crazy stuff like H1 being defined as SMALLER than H2 in CSS style files.

    • Thank you very much everyone for your answers.
      I activated the default theme, edited content and activated the new theme (Revolution Church) again.
      The thing is that when it had the default theme, everything was perfect. When I activated the new one, things changed again, but it was easy for me to edit them a bit again. Now, I am happy with the result.
      For the time being I will change themes every time I want to edit a post.
      If anyone has got another suggestion I will greatly appreciate it.

  • Maybe, use a normal theme?

    I have seen completely idiotic theme designers, e.g. having in the stylesheet
    p {margin: 0;}
    which means no matter what the user does, all the paragraphs are together in one hard-to-read mass of text... Imagine the frustration of the blogger (similar to yours) with her posts!

    If a theme causes so much pain - it's not worth to keep it.
  • I think the only way to get around the problem will either be to
    1) Just use a new theme or
    2) Have someone customize your CSS so you can get things to look more like you want them to.

    • I really don't want to change the theme, because it's my personal blog and I really like it's design, but the second option sounds good to me!
      I'll see if I can hire someone to do it. That would be great! Maybe someone from the warrior forum?

  • Try clearing your cookies... sometimes that works for me when WP installs behave strangely.

    If you have WP minify installed, try to deactivate it. It does the strangest things to my installations at times...
